To Minivan or not to Minivan???

For the past several months, hubby and I have casually talked about getting a minivan.
Let me describe what happens to me whenever we talk about it.
I cringe.
Every cell in my body screams Nooooo!
The hair on my arms stands up!
My brain goes into defensive overdrive!
My heart starts to race!
My hands want to rip open the SUV/Suburban section of the newspaper!
You see...I grew up in TX!
In TX, everything is BIG...including cars!
Suburbans are the vehicle of choice for ALL!
Minivans are non-existent in TX. At least the TX I remember!
So my expectation has always been that I would be a soccer mom who drove a suburban.
Not a minivan!
BUT, here where we live, everything is MEDIUM. Everyone drives minivans. Suburbans are few and far between.
So, what's a girl to do?
To minivan or not to minivan?

August is Video Clip month! See the sidebar!

Oh my goodness, here trying to catch up AGAIN! Minivan, girl -- check out the difference in gas mileage (suburbans are guzzlers).

Got the message on change in playgroup. Trying to sort through your doc ventures...Perhaps calm and constructive feedback to the doc who dismissed the mother's instinct? In writing, perhaps? Not immediately, but once you have more information (after meeting w/regular Pediatrician and neurologist). Write it NOW -- then edit it after some more time has passed to allow for more objectivity, etc. Just an idea. So often people complain, but not to the right people. I do like to believe that people become doctors because they want to help heal people, and will do what they can to make that happen.

My friend drives a suburban ($189.00 the last time they filled up!)and they just bought a Buick Enclave and she loves it! It gets great gas mileage and still seats all the kids (not quite as roomy but still...) Anyway, just an idea.

Get a minivan! I love them, once I get past the sheer fact that it is a minivan. I don't have one, but would love to! I have a friend who has an expedition and her hubby had a minivan through work and they would prefer to take his minivan!!

We are continually faced with great opportunities which are brilliantly disguised as unsolvable problems.

If these weren't $3K this would be my next minivan. It wouldn't help on long trip to church or appts. -but it would be great for the grocery store and parks.

I'm in Texas, Houston area to be exact, and there are minivans EVERYWHERE! I personally don't have one, but most of the other mothers I know do. From seeing theirs, I've realized that minivans are made for families, w/all the fun things that help w/all the STUFF. I have a mid-sized SUV (paid for, which is why I'm not in a hurry to get a minivan), and it is not child friendly in the least. And the gasoline bills aren't fun either. So, if you're trying to stay a bit Texan in what you drive, a minivan would pass. :)

We had a minivan before we had kids! My husband was a youth pastor though! We love having a minivan. We just traded our first one in last year for another used one. We're enjoying the rear air conditioning and heated front seats but skipped (not that we had a choice) on the extras like DVD players.

The difference in gas bills has got to be worth it. :)
